"Lundi River"

The Lundi, or Runde as it is called now, is a river that runs through southern Zimbabwe.  Along its banks is a small mission station that takes the river’s name and is the first place my family lived in Africa.  My brother Eric and I would go down to the river and often see the local people fishing, bathing, and washing their clothes.  I loved exploring the river, jumping from rock to rock, never knowing what we might come across – a crocodile skull, a bushman painting, a fish trap.
